When we moved into our new home a couple of years ago there was a crawl space off my daughters bedroom which would be over our dining room. Knowing I would never use it I had my husband drywall the opening and close it off. Yesterday I had this bright idea of turning that dead space into a walk in closet for my daughter. Although her room is quite large her closet is kind of standard and well a girl always needs more closet space. So I had my husband cut open the wall, I had such great plans....but at the highest point my dd will just barely be able to stand, scratch the closet idea.
We decided to finish it off anyways for a secret doll room. DD says she will be fine crawling around in there and that she sits when she plays anyways. At least now we can move the 4 doll beds and the 2 sets of tables and chairs off her bedroom floor and create the perfect doll space and make it easier for me to vacuum. The roof slants on one side but I think she'll get a couple of years play out of it. Anyone hae any ideas for the secret room?

Wow, that crawl space sounds really neat. Please post pics when you're done with it.
I don't have any ideas at this point about extra stuff to do with it, but the idea of a "secret doll room" is enough to delight any child. I just hope she will be comfy in such a small space. Have fun!

I think she'll be ok in there, the actual room will be about 10x10 and only slanted on the one side. She's excited to set up different rooms of the house for her dolls in there. The only problem is now my son wants one also. Try explaining to a 3.5 year old that if you cut through his walls he'll be outside.

What a super room for a little girl, my favorite place to play was in the back of a big closet growing up.
If you wanted to give each room some individually you could paint or wallpaper a piece of foam core board from Hobby Lobby. And just put it behind the room you are building. Maybe get the Science Fair board (cardboard) cut it in half and make two scenes. Some of our members have the cutest backdrops, I remember one has a log cabin painted for her Kirsten. Or use shelf liner like wall paper. Hobby Lobby also had a window that would be perfect in the doll house section I think it's about $6.99. Just glue it to the board after you've painted it.
If you are using the walls as the back drop like I do, I use "Poster Putty" to hang things, the little "oil painting" is stuck to the wall with it in my siggy.
Get placemats for rugs. With fall coming look in the markdown areas for the summer colors.
It sounds like a fun project for you and your DD, please post pictures of the room, I just love rooms.
